Shipping & Returns

Last updated: October 22, 2026

We build every bow by hand in Lebanon, Oregon, and we ship it to you ourselves. This page explains how long that takes, what shipping costs, what to do if a package goes missing, and how our 30-day money-back satisfaction guarantee and Limited One-Year Warranty work. It is part of our Terms of Sale.

The short version

  • We ship to the United States, Canada and Great Britain. Other countries are not currently served.
  • In-stock orders go out fast. Our standing promise: "Expect shipping within 2-3 business days via USPS or UPS Shipping."
  • Backordered and in-process bows ship after the lead time stated on the listing (around 5–7 weeks unless the listing says otherwise); a bow you reserved through a model page ships after the lead time in our payment email. Lead times are estimates: if we cannot ship by the estimate, we email you a new one before it passes (and, for longer delays, we ask you to confirm), and you can cancel for a full refund.
  • Shipping options and prices are shown at checkout. Stickers add nothing to the shipping charge.
  • Every bow comes with a 30-day money-back satisfaction guarantee: send it back for a full refund minus shipping charges.
  • Every new bow comes with a Limited One-Year Warranty against defects in material and workmanship.

Where we ship

We ship to addresses in the United States, Canada and Great Britain.

United States. All fifty states, including Alaska and Hawaii, at the same flat rates, and APO/FPO/DPO military addresses. For a military or PO box address, choose the USPS option at checkout; UPS and FedEx cannot deliver to those. US territories such as Puerto Rico, Guam and the US Virgin Islands are not currently served by our checkout.

PO boxes. USPS can deliver to a PO box; UPS and FedEx cannot, and a 62-inch bow box may not fit in a smaller box. A street address is the safest choice for a bow.

Freight forwarders. We ship to the address on your order. If that address is a freight forwarder or reshipper, our responsibility for the package ends when the carrier delivers it to the forwarder.

We do not currently ship to any other country. If you are somewhere else, we are sorry, and please get in touch; we may be able to point you to a dealer or let you know if that changes.

Processing time (when your order leaves the shop)

Processing time is how long it takes us to pack and hand your order to the carrier. Transit time, on top of that, depends on the shipping option you pick.

In-stock bows. As stated on every page of our site: "IN-STOCK ORDERS: Expect shipping within 2-3 business days via USPS or UPS Shipping." Individual listings may say a bow "will ship in 1-3 business days" or "SHIPS IN 1-2 BUSINESS DAYS"; when a listing gives a shorter window, we will do our best to meet it.

Strings, stringers, bow socks and other accessories. Same as in-stock bows: within 2-3 business days.

Stickers. From the sticker listings: "Please give us 2-3 days to ship all sticker orders. All letters will be shipped in a letter format which will take 7-10 days unless you choose first class shipping option."

Printed catalog. From the catalog listing: "Please allow 3-5 business days to ship all Damon Howatt ... catalog requests." The catalog is limited to one per customer.

Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding US federal holidays. Orders placed on a weekend or holiday start processing the next business day.

Backordered, in-process and reserved bows

A listing marked "Backordered", "Available on backorder" or "In Process" is a bow we have not finished yet. We only take orders for these when the listing says so. Our standard lead time for a backordered bow is around 5–7 weeks; if the listing states a different build time for that particular bow, the listing's time applies.

The lead time starts when your payment is confirmed and ends when the bow leaves the shop; add transit time on top. Lead times are estimates: wood, glass and shop hours all run short sometimes. If we cannot ship your bow by the estimate, we will email you before it passes with a new estimate, and you can cancel for a full refund. If the new estimate is more than 30 days after the original one, or if we have to delay a second time, we will ask you to confirm that you still want the bow; if you have not confirmed by the date in that email and the bow has not shipped, we cancel the order and refund you in full. You can cancel a backordered or in-process bow at any time before it ships for a full refund.

A bow you reserved through a model page and paid for when we emailed you is handled the same way, with the lead time given in our payment email. How reservations work, including the price you pay, is in the Reservations and custom builds section of our Terms of Sale.

Shipping methods and rates

Shipping options and their prices are shown at checkout, before you pay. We do not list the amounts here because they change with carrier rates.

Here is how the price is worked out. Every product belongs to one of four shipping groups: stickers, small accessories (such as the bow stringer), strings and bow socks, and bows. Each shipping option has a price per group, and you are charged that price once per group in your cart, not per item. Two bows ship for the same charge as one; a bow plus a string costs the bow rate plus the string rate; stickers always add $0. The USPS flat-rate option is the exception: it is one fixed price for any cart, whatever is in it.

For US orders you will typically see:

  • USPS flat rate. One fixed price for the whole order. Bows ship in our own long box; as the listings say, "Includes new ... Topographic Box shipped to your door via USPS."
  • Flat rate. Our standard option, priced per shipping group as described above.
  • Small-item flat rate. Priced per group for strings, stringers, socks and other accessories that fit a smaller package.
  • UPS / FedEx rate. Priced per group, for when you would rather have a particular carrier or faster transit.

For Canada and Great Britain there is a single flat rate, also priced per group.

By default the checkout preselects the cheapest option that fits your cart; you can pick another one.

Stickers add nothing to the shipping charge. Every sticker listing says it: "Shipping: FREE SHIPPING on all stickers." On their own, stickers travel free by letter mail, which takes about 7-10 days and has no tracking. If you want a tracked package instead, choose the paid USPS flat-rate option at checkout. In a cart with other items, the stickers ride along in the same package at no extra charge.

Carriers

We ship with USPS and UPS, and with FedEx under the UPS / FedEx option. For flat-rate options we choose the carrier that makes sense for your package and destination. Carrier transit times are the carrier's estimates, not a promise from us.

Tracking your order

When your order ships, we email you the tracking number (and a tracking link where the carrier provides one), one email per parcel if your order ships in more than one. If you have not received tracking within the processing window above, check your spam folder first, then email us with your order number.

Your address, and what happens on delivery

Please double-check your shipping address at checkout. We ship to the address you give us, exactly as you typed it. If an order comes back to us because the address was wrong or incomplete, we will contact you; you can have it re-shipped at your cost, or we refund the order minus the original shipping charge.

Once the carrier marks a package as delivered, it is in your care. If tracking shows "delivered" and you cannot find the package, check with household members, neighbors and your building's mail area, then contact the carrier and us within 7 days of the delivery scan so we can open a trace.

We may require a signature on delivery for some shipments.

Lost, delayed or damaged packages

Please inspect your bow as soon as it arrives, before you string it. If the box is crushed, punctured or wet, note it on the carrier's delivery record if you can, and photograph the box before you open it.

If a bow or any other item arrives damaged, email us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photos of the damage and the packaging. Do not string or shoot a bow that shows shipping damage. We will work with the carrier on the claim and repair, replace or refund the item.

If a package is lost in transit (tracking stops moving for more than a week with no delivery), contact us and we will open a trace with the carrier. If the carrier cannot find it, we will replace the item or refund you.

Carrier delays after we have shipped are outside our control. A delay alone is not a reason for a refund unless the package is confirmed lost.

Our 30-day money-back satisfaction guarantee

Our footer says it on every page: "30 Days Money Back Satisfaction Guarantee." Our bow listings spell it out: "All bows come with a 30-day money back guarantee, if you don't like it you can send it back for a full refund minus shipping charges."

Here is how it works.

What is covered. Any new bow bought on damonhowatt.com, including blemished ("blem") bows. If you have a problem with a string, stringer, bow sock, sticker or catalog, contact us within the same 30 days.

The window. You have 30 days from the day your order is delivered to tell us you want to return it. Contact us within the window; the bow can arrive back here a little after that as long as you started the return in time.

Condition. The bow must come back in the condition it left here: unmodified, undamaged, and with everything that shipped with it (string, arrow rest, stringer, manual, box, and any paid upgrades such as a silencer string, premium stringer or bow sock). It is fine to have strung it and shot it; that is the point of a trial period. It is not fine to send back a bow that has been dry-fired, refinished, drilled, cut, left strung in a hot truck, or shot with underweight arrows. We inspect every return. If a bow comes back damaged through misuse, we will contact you and may reduce the refund by the cost of repair or decline the return.

"Full refund minus shipping charges." You get back the price you paid for the bow and any paid upgrades. The shipping charge you paid at checkout is not refunded, and you pay to ship the bow back to us; as our registration page puts it, "You will be liable for all shipping charges back to our location." If an item shipped at no charge (stickers), there is nothing to deduct.

Sales tax and duties. We do not charge sales tax, so there is none to refund. Duties, import taxes or customs fees you paid on an international order were collected by the destination country's customs authority or the carrier, not by us, and we cannot refund them.

Bows bought from a dealer. Return them to the dealer under the dealer's policy.

How to start a return

  1. Email HowattArchery@Gmail.com within the 30-day window with your order number and the reason for the return. A quick note is enough; no essay required.
  2. We will reply with a return authorization and the return address for our shop in Lebanon, Oregon. Please wait for that before shipping. Packages sent without a return authorization are hard to match to an order and may be delayed.
  3. Unstring the bow and pack it in the original box with all the original padding and contents. If you no longer have the box, use a sturdy box at least as long as the bow with the limb tips well padded.
  4. Ship it back with tracking, and insure it for the purchase price. You are responsible for the bow until it reaches us.
  5. Keep your tracking number and email it to us.

Refund timing

Once your return arrives we inspect it, usually within a few business days. We then issue the refund to the original payment method through Stripe and email you when it is done. Your bank usually posts it within 5-10 business days, though some take longer; we cannot speed up your bank.

We do not refund to a different card or by cash, check or store credit, except where the original card has been closed, in which case contact us and we will sort something out.

Exchanges

Want a different draw weight or handedness? Because most of our bows are single units, we do not do direct swaps. The simplest path is to return the first bow under the guarantee and place a new order for the one you want, so you do not lose the bow you want while the first is in transit. Email us and we will help you line it up.

Warranty summary

Every new Damon Howatt bow carries a Limited One-Year Warranty against defects in material and workmanship, given by Damon Howatt Productions LLC. The full warranty is on our bow registration page; this is a plain-English summary, and the full text controls.

What is covered. Defects in material and workmanship in a new Damon Howatt bow, for one year from the date of original purchase (the date on your order confirmation or dealer receipt). Blemished ("blem") bows carry the same warranty as any other new bow.

Who is covered. The original purchaser only, whether you bought from damonhowatt.com or from an authorized dealer. The warranty is not transferable.

Registration. Please register your bow within 30 days of purchase. Registration records your serial number and purchase date and gets you expedited support. If you did not register, you can still make a claim by showing proof of purchase (your order number or dealer receipt).

What is not covered. Strings, rests, stringers, bow socks and other accessories; normal wear (finish wear, string stretch, scratches); cosmetic blemishes described in a blem listing; damage from misuse or neglect (dry-firing, arrows lighter than 10 grains per pound of draw weight, the wrong brace height or arrow spine, over-drawing, stringing without a stringer, leaving the bow strung, storage in heat or wet); and any alteration or repair not made by us.

Making a claim. Within the warranty period, email HowattArchery@Gmail.com (preferred) or call us, or contact the dealer you bought from. Before sending a bow in, you must get a Return Authorization (RA) number from us. You pay the shipping to our shop; if the claim is covered, we repair or replace the bow at no charge and pay the return shipping. If we find the problem is not covered, we tell you why, and you pay the return shipping (or ask us for a repair quote). If a limb or the bow broke, keep the arrow you were shooting; we will ask you to send it with the bow.

Repair or replacement. We repair when we can. If the bow cannot be repaired, we replace it with the same model or a comparable current model of equal value. A repaired or replacement bow is covered for the rest of the original year.

Strings, stringers and accessories. These do not carry the one-year warranty. If one arrives defective, tell us within the 30-day guarantee window and we will make it right.

International orders

We ship to Canada and Great Britain as well as the United States. The shipping price for an international order is quoted at checkout, once you have entered your address, and is worked out per shipping group as described above. Some small accessories (for example the bow stringer) are not currently available for international shipping; while one is in your cart, the checkout will not offer an international option, so remove it or order it separately through a dealer.

Import duties, taxes and customs fees are the buyer's responsibility. They may be collected by the carrier or the destination country's customs authority before the parcel is handed over, are not included in our prices or shipping quotes, and we do not control them.

We do not currently ship to other countries. If that changes, this page will be updated.
